What we have learned this week…
This week we have been making the most of the nice weather and spending lots of time outside. We have been practising our races for sports day and we also did our reading with P6 outside this week. We have been doing lots of maths games like playing cards, playing with ball pool balls and using scales to weigh things to find out which was heaviest. We had great fun counting playing snakes and ladders too! Mrs More came on Thursday and we were learning all about how caterpillars grow in to butterflies.
We are still really enjoying working with Nursery 4′s, Mrs Mudie and Mrs Macleod to help them get ready for school.
Today we went down to the Charleston pitches to do our sports day. It was lovely and sunny so we were happy to be outside. We did the bean bag race, sack race, friend race and the crawling race and we all enjoyed taking part. We also liked getting to watch the bigger classes too doing thier races, the skipping race looked really hard but we are looking forward to trying it when we get older!
Aedan and Charlotte were our star writers last week and this week it is Lucy and Lucy, they have all tried really hard to remember the “potion for a perfect sentence” In this potion you need…finger spaces, full tops, it has to make sense, the letters need to be on the line and you have to try hard to write your letters properly! We are all doing our best to remember this so we will see who our star writers next week!
We will blog again next week

This week in Primary One we have been very busy learning and doing fun activities. We have been doing some more work on our numbers up to 20 including filling in the missing numbers and finding the numbers that come inbetween two numbers. We have been adding together two different numbers and trying to make ten, we have found this hard but fun! We did some weighing with Mrs More to see how much different things weighed in the classroom. Some of us are table checkers this week and we have a very important job to make sure we keep our tables tidy and have the right amount of pencils and rubbers. The Happy Helicopters and the Superstars reading groups were so fantastic at reading this morning that they all got a lovely reading stickers! We have read a really funny poem today called “On the ning nang nong” it made us all laugh
We wrote all our families with Miss Greenall and Mrs Macphee and drew some lovely pictures to go with them. I wonder who is going to be star writer this week?
We will write again next week

First week back…
We were all happy to be back to school this week
We came back to hear the lovely news that Alisha and Aedan both have new baby brothers in their family so we hope everyone is happy and healthy and we look forward to meeting your new additions!
On Monday we got back in to working hard with Mrs Munro. We all wrote lovely stories about what we had been up to in the Easter holidays. Then we have been making sure we hadn’t forgotten everything we learned in Primary One so we have done lots of practise of our sounds and numbers. We have also been looking at words that rhyme like cat, mat, fat, sat, rat, that, flat and lots more!
We have been making the most of the lovely weather by being outside and playing lots of games with beanbags and the parachute. We hope the sun stays around so we can enjoy being outside!
We had a talk from a lady called Marion about how to look after our teeth, she was telling us all about how to eat healthy foods and brush our teeth properly to make sure we keep our beauitful smiles
We will blog again next week

Well the end of term has come and we are absolutely delighted with what a big success the blog has been since we started doing it in January. As you can see we are nearly at 500 visits and this is a fantastic achievement for all the people involved in the blog especially the pupils and parents who have contributed – so a big well done to them!
Since Christmas P1 have been working so hard they have learned so much and had lots of fun and that is what P1 is all about and we hope the blog has given you a chance to see some of the things we have been doing all day at school and we really hope you can see how much we are improving and developing everyday.
We are all very much looking forward to the summer term and know there will be lots of new and exciting challenges ahead of us – including helping the Nursery children get ready for their move to P1. We are looking forward to the nicer weather and lots of chances to get outside to learn more about ourselves and nature.
We hope that everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable holidays and to those families who are growing we wish you all the best and look forward to seeing your new additions in the summer term

We had a visitor from the RSPB, her name was Morag, and she was telling us all about birds that live by the sea and on the cliffs. – we really enjoyed having her in Primary One.

We have had a busy week doing lots of fun work.
On Monday with Mrs Munro we made some shape graphs which are looking great up on the wall. We also made lovely patterns using our names and lots of colours.
We have been watching the news this week to help us with our TV station and this has been really interesting.
We read the story of “Stick Man” which we all thought was really great especialy the bit that said “I’m stick man, I’m stick man, I’m stick man you see!” We went for a walk around the school to look at some of our work that has been put up on the walls – it was great to see
We have been playing cat and mouse on the parachute in the hall and we did some aerobics to some brilliant music!
We have been looking at numbers and how to count things altogether which was fun.
We have all been choosing a new ERIC book and are looking forward to reading them next week.
Geordie and KD have managed to get to the end of the face race this week and both got a lovely prize.
Miss Greenall met lots of people who came in to school from home to talk about how well primary one are getting on with their learning and she was really pleased to tell everyone what a great class she has.
